About ShrinkWatch

We're tracking shrinkflation so you don't have to.

What is Shrinkflation?

Shrinkflation is when companies reduce the size or quantity of a product while keeping the price the same (or even increasing it). It's a sneaky way to raise prices without consumers noticing.

📉 Example: Your favorite cereal box that used to be 20 oz is now 18 oz — but still costs $5.99. That's a 10% hidden price increase!

Why We Built This

We noticed thousands of frustrated consumers on Reddit's r/shrinkflation community (180K+ members!) manually tracking these changes. They were asking for a centralized tool to document and share this information.

So we built it.

How It Works

1

Spot a shrunk product

Notice your favorite product is smaller than before.

2

Submit a report

Tell us the product, brand, old size, new size, and where you found it.

3

Build the database

Together, we create a comprehensive record of shrinkflation.

4

Hold brands accountable

Data-driven transparency makes it harder for companies to hide price increases.

The Numbers

Based on our tracked data, the average product has shrunk by about 12% while prices have stayed the same or increased. That means you're paying more per ounce than ever before.
